Pollock Park and Scottish Cows

Image
Finally a sunny Sunday: direction Pollock Country Park . The Burell Collection being closed for restructuration the goal is to walk around and see the typical Scottish cows. The face to face with the Highland cows is a must and there are impressive: ginger and giant. The park is the largest in the Glasgow area, well sustained and where animals roam freely (except cows... unfortunately) and birds sing loud. Situated in the south, Pollok Country Park is a huge attraction during the weekend with its stunning country house, woodland walks, bike trails, and more. I was not expecting a parc that big, I spent more than 3 hours walking around, discovering the Pollock House, the Garden, and having a picnic on the board of the river.  Pollock is a quiet place, relaxing with some good point of views. It is only 15 minutes of train from Glasgow and a total mind trip when you need some fresh air.

Secret Glasgow: Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre

I have seen a lot of shows, theater plays, exhibitions, but the Sharmanka Kinetic is one of the most surprising ones I've attended. It is incredible, poetic, magical... It is necessary to attend to understand the beauty of the sculptures. Sharmanka transports us into another fascinating world, with a play of music and lights explored in the slightest detail. This captivating show was imported from Russia in 1996. The artist Eduard Bersudsky is indeed Russian, a mechanic by profession who became a sculptor afterward. He lives in Glasgow. Take the time to attend Sharmanka, the performance lasts only 40 minutes and I highly recommend you to book before. There i...

Vibrant Street Art in Glasgow

Image
Massive murals, impressive arts, creating vibrant street art in hidden corners of Glasgow. All around the center, the City Council commissioned artists to upgrade abandoned walls in the city. The first appeared in 2008 and there are now 25 remarkable murals. From the quirky to bizarre, radical to conservative, doing a self-guided tour is the best way to discover it. It is easily walkable you cross the city pavements and discover unusual places. I thought I knew Glasgow after seven months. Anyway, I spent four hours doing the trail enjoying the view and the secret gems of Glasgow. It was sunny, absolutely stunning on this February month. I cannot recommend one, in particular, just look as little as possible the murals before doing it. It will be surprising!
